Lenehan Consulting (Lenecon) is a family owned consultancy established in 1998 with initial operation in South Africa undertaking water supply and sanitation projects in rural communities. Since 2004 Lenecon has operated in Australia offering water, wastewater and environmental services to a wide range of clients. The early days in South Africa instilled a paradigm of practicality and ethics to our work mission. This is now incorporated into the service we offer our clients to help them achieve efficient and effective outcomes.
The team at Lenecon includes the two founding Directors (Antony Lenehan and Lija Abelitis) and a small group of dedicated professionals providing assistance in engineering, environment and administration.
Antony obtained a degree in civil engineering from Newcastle University and a degree in natural resource management from the University of New England in the 1980s. Since then he has had a wide range of experience in water and wastewater management including design, construction supervision and research. This includes 10 years in South Africa involved in remote water supply and sanitation and over 10 years in Australia consulting on projects ranging from stormwater design of small subdivisions to water management for mines and coal seam gas.
Lija obtained a degree in arts and diploma in education from the University of New England in the early 1990s. She has taught in a wide range of applications since then including English as a Second Language (ESL), private tutoring and rural primary schools in South Africa. She has been involved in community liaison for rural water supply projects, development of technical training material and research in primary health and community awareness. Lija is now significantly involved in the development of the Lenecon business model and provides community liaison and consultation input to projects as required.
